This privacy policy describes how the A11yChecks Elements Chrome extension (“the Extension”, “we”, “our”) handles information when you install and use it in your browser.
1. Overview
A11yChecks Elements is a developer tool that analyzes the structure of the current webpage and displays a list of HTML and ARIA elements in a side panel. It is designed with privacy in mind and operates entirely on your device.
The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data or browsing data.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
The Extension does not collect or access any of the following:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact details
- Account credentials, authentication data, or payment information
- Browsing history across websites or over time
- Form inputs, typed text, or user-generated content
- Cookies, local storage, or session storage data
- IP addresses, device identifiers, or precise location data
- Analytics or usage tracking identifiers
3. How the Extension Works
When you click the A11yChecks Elements icon in the Chrome toolbar, the Extension temporarily injects a content script into the active tab to:
- Read the DOM of the page you are viewing
- Identify interactive elements and nodes with ARIA roles
- Render an in-page side panel listing these elements
- Highlight selected elements and show their HTML in the panel
All of this processing occurs locally within your browser. The Extension does not send page content, DOM data, or results to any external server.
The Extension uses the following minimal Chrome permissions:

activeTab– allows the Extension to run only on the tab that you explicitly activate by clicking the extension icon. -
scripting– allows the Extension to inject the inspection script and UI into the currently active page.
These permissions are used solely to provide the element inspection functionality and are not used for tracking or advertising.
4. No Data Transmission or Third-Party Sharing
The Extension does not communicate with any external servers. We do not use remote APIs, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking pixels within the Extension.
Because we do not collect data, there is no data to share with third parties, advertisers, or external services.
5. Children’s Privacy
The Extension is intended for developers and site owners. It does not collect any personal information from users of any age, including children under 13.
6. Security
Since A11yChecks Elements does not store or transmit user data, the risk of data exposure is minimal. All logic runs inside Chrome’s extension sandbox on your local device.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Extension or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
